Flyfishing Workshop EFFA 27.5.2023

Dear fly fishing friends,

On the last weekend in May, the annual meeting of the members of the European Fly Fishing Association (EFFA) will take place in Sušice, Czech Republic.

The EFFA aims to promote fly fishing - "the royal way of fishing" - with all its aspects, to establish contacts and exchange information between like-minded people and also to raise the level of education in this field of interest. More information about EFFA can be found at www.effa.info.

The meeting will include fly rod casting workshops, a nymphing workshop and a fly tying workshop led by EFFA coaches and instructors. The workshops are open to EFFA members and the public, they are free of charge. Instructors speak English or German.

Workshop 1: Perfecting your fly casting - Saturday 9:00 - 12:00

The goal is to solve and optimize each participant's individual fly casting problems under the guidance of EFFA Master Instructors. The workshop will be conducted in groups of 5 participants and 1 instructor, 2 hours on the meadow, 1 hour on the river.

Meeting of participants: at 8.45 in the Jan Šiman Fly Shop in Sušice. Maximum 25 participants.

The option to register for Workshop 1 is closed due to the capacity being filled.

Workshop 2: The Underhand Technique - fly casting with a two-handed rod - Saturday 14:00-17:00

This workshop is about understanding the effective and elegant two-handed and one-handed rod casting technique developed by Swedish fly fisherman Goran Andersson. Instructor: Peter Henggeler (Switzerland) and others.

Workshop 3: Euro Nymph - Saturday 14:00-17:00

The introduction to modern nymphing techniques - Czech Nymph, French Nymph and others, together referred to as the Euro Nymph technique. Instructors: Valerio Santagostino (Italy), Jan Šiman (Czech Republic).

Meeting of participants: at 8.45 in the Jan Šiman Fly Shop in Sušice.

Workhop 4: Fly Tying - Saturday 17:00-20:00

Demonstration of tying effective flies and different tying techniques. Dry flies - Yvonne Borrman (Germany), nymphs - Bernhard Nussbaumer (Germany), streamers - Andreas Bohringer (Germany).
