Whether swinging streamers across and down, extending drifts near the banks from a moving drift boat, or tracking a nymph rig a few feet further in the zone, this 10' 4-weight Recon gives you the ability to cover more water, extend your fly's time in the zone, and has the power to handle big trout, light bass, and even light steelhead.

5-AFTMA 8´6
There was a time when the best-selling rod configuration was the 8'6" 5-weight. The Orvis Henry's Fork was an icon in fly fishing for years. For all-around freshwater versatility in waters big or small, on the surface or under it, the Recon 865-4 continues the legacy of this length and line-weight configuration. If you are looking for one freshwater rod that can adapt to almost every situation, this is the rod for you. With the latest in design and construction technology, and at a remarkable mid-price point, the Recon 865-4 is a must-have for any angler who appreciates great fly rod performance.

5-AFTMA 9´
If ever there was a standard for all-around performance on larger streams, rivers, and lakes for multiple species of fish, the Recon 905-4 is a rod that can handle big trout, bass, and panfish from coast to coast. This length/weight rod is the number one selling configuration. Its length and mid-range line weight give it great versatility for dry-fly fishing, streamer fishing, perfect for a drift boat, and nymphing mid to light/heavy rigs.

5-AFTMA 10´
A 5-weight rod is the freshwater sweet spot in line weight versatility. Whether swinging streamers across and down, extending drifts near the banks from a moving drift boat, or tracking a nymph rig a few feet further in the zone, this 10' 5-weight Recon gives you the ability to cover more water, extend your fly's time in the zone, and has the power to handle big trout, bass, and light steelhead.

6-AFTMA 9´
When headed to big water you want to be prepared for big fish, wind, and the ability to throw big flies. The Recon 906-4 fits the bill perfectly. Versatile and accurate enough to drop a dry fly in a far tight window, and yet with the power to cut through the wind and deliver a big streamer to a far cut bank or a big popper to a hole in the lily pads. Heavy nymph rigs are not a problem either. There are times in freshwater when bigger is better. If big rivers, lakes, and big flies for big fish are your passion, the Recon 906-4 is a mid-priced powerhouse that will do the job and then some. Helios™ 3 is the benefactor behind the new Recon, utilizing its construction techniques and performance attributes to refine and improve the new series.

6-AFTMA 9´SW
Light saltwater is some of the most fun you can have with a fly rod, and Recon 906-4 SW in the saltwater configuration is the weapon you want. Whether schoolie stripers or bonefish on a calm flat, hooking into a saltwater game fish with a light rod is pure enjoyment. But make no mistake, the Recon 906-4 SW has the ability to handle the task, cut through the wind, and with its improved accuracy, provide you with the perfect fly rod at a price you'll love. The best part is this is a great double- duty rod for freshwater as well offering exactly the same performance as the freshwater Recon 906-4 only configured with a solid aluminium reel seat and a fighting butt.

6-AFTMA 9´6"
Whether you need the reach for light steelheading or the backcast height to avoid the beach behind you, the Recon 966-4 gives you that extended length. This is a great heavy nymphing rod with the power to handle heavy rigs and the reach to control the drift for longer periods. If you're looking for extended line control and mending ability, the Recon 966-4 is a superior option, that while extending your reach is still close to standard rod length, making it a very versatile tool to have in your quiver. In fly fishing, reach and power are good things. This rod has plenty of both at a price that will have you smiling all the way to the water.

7-AFTMA 9´
If fishing for you is about chasing most anything that swims, you need this rod. Bonefish, bass, schoolie stripers, carp, pike, big trout, the target list is endless for the Recon 907-4. With improved accuracy and strength, this is versatility at its best. Dead center in the middle of the line-weight spectrum the 907-4 is a great rod for any quiver, giving you so many options for species. If there is a no-frills, work truck in the fly rod world, the Recon 9' 7-weight is it.

7-AFTMA 10´
The Recon 7-Weight 10' Fly Rod is the single-handed steelheader's best option for a mid-priced rod with premium performance. All the length and line control you need for light to medium Midwest steelheading using subsurface nymphing or dead-drift presentations. This rod is also exceptional in the UK for use with multiple density lines on reservoirs and still waters.

8-AFTMA 9
The two best-selling length and line weight configurations are the 905-4 and the 908-4. For the saltwater angler, the 908-4 is generally the first rod in the quiver based solely on its versatility in species. From bonefish to bonito, stripeCSrs to bluefish, false albacore to redfish the Recon 908-4 is a saltwater workhorse that can do it all. With improved accuracy and strength, this rod is a sight fishing gem. If you like to drag big bass out of the weeds in freshwater, this rod can do it with ease, and at this price point, having one is easy and having two is even better.

8-AFTMA 10´
This rod is a steelheader's dream with premium performance at an exceptional mid-price point. The Recon 8-weight 10' rod is the answer for power, reach, and a rod built in Vermont by Orvis rod designers with just the action you need. Perfect for saltwater shore anglers as well, with the length to keep that backcast up off the beach. Big flies, big reach, big fish, and a price far below the performance, accuracy, and strength you will receive in return.

9-AFTMA 9´
The 9' 9-weight is perhaps the most versatile saltwater rod configuration there is. In the Northeast, it is the standard for the four major fly rod species, striped bass, bonito, false albacore, and bluefish, all of which range the Northeast Coast. The Recon 909-4 offers the strength to handle all of these fish and to power a line through often tough and windy conditions. Go further south, and it is perfect for snook, permit, bull reds, and even juvenile tarpon. In freshwater, this rod is a good bet for lunker bass in the weeds and carp as well. If you spend a lot of time in salt, the Recon 909-4 will be the fly rod you use most often from beach or boat, and at this price will pay you back tenfold in the cost-to-fun ratio.

10-AFTMA 9´
There are times when you need more power. Fishing for big saltwater game fish can involve heavy currents, tough winds, not to mention bigger and stronger fish. For big stripers and blues in the Northeast rips and winter bull reds in Louisiana, the Recon 910-4 provides that power and the accuracy to put the fly where it needs to be, and then handle the result. This is the perfect secondary rod to carry bonefishing in case you encounter permit, juvenile tarpon, and barracuda. In freshwater it is an excellent choice for throwing huge, bushy predator flies to big pike and Florida-strain largemouth in the weeds. If big predators are your target, big flies are your ammo, and tough conditions are the norm, The Recon 910-4 is one rod you absolutely want in your hand..

12-AFTMA 9´
The Recon 9' 12-weight is a premium performance tarpon rod, but at a price that will allow you to spend an extra day fishing. With the latest in Orvis design and construction technology, the Recon 912-4 offers significantly improved accuracy and strength, both attributes being critical when targeting the silver king. When the guide makes the call, you can cast with confidence knowing this rod will track straight and true. For this price you will not find a better tarpon rod period. Don't just take one. Take two.
